E3: Nintendo Reveal Fossil Fighters

Pokémon with dinosaurs?

Nintendo are bringing Fossil Fighters to DS, a new RPG that enables you to find, clean, collect and fight dinosaurs.

It sounds a bit like Pokémon with dinosaurs as you build a collection of more than 100 fantastical dinosaurs - known here as vivosaurs - and take them into battle.

You dig for fossils and use the touch screen to hammer, chip, drill and brush away bits of rock around the fossil. When dust builds up you have to blow into the mic to clean the fossil.

Cleaning carefully and methodically is important as your vivosaur will be more powerful in battle if you clean the fossil properly.

However, you'll need to collect and clean various parts of each vivosaur before it comes to life and is ready for battle. The head must be found first and the body, legs and arms can be added to increase its power.

Nintendo haven't revealed storyline details yet but there will be a big environment to explore.

You'll also be able to connect wirelessly to trade and battle with a friend.

Fossil Fighters will be released in the US on 10 August. No UK release details have been confirmed...

I could have sworn it was going to be another Pokémon cash in, but it's actually looking surprisingly good.
If anything, it'll probably better than Spectrobes.

Does anyone else think that the theme tune sounds like a cross between Zelda and Super Metroid?

Anyway, this is looking similar to Pokemon in several ways. Let's hope it's turning out good!
