This Week's Nintendo Downloads

Bonsai Barber, Revenge Of Shinobi...
Bonsai Barber and Revenge Of Shinobi will be ready for download in the Wii Shopping Channel tomorrow as part of Nintendo's weekly update. City Transport Map Volumes 1 & 2 - 2009 will also be available through DSiWare.

Bonsai Barber (1,000 Wii Points) is from Zoonami and has been developed by Martin Hollis who was development lead on GoldenEye for N64. Yet it is about as far removed as the Bond shooter as you could get. Here you have to earn money by cutting the barnets of vegetables! Living in a town populated by plants, fruit and vegetables, you use your Wii Remote as your hairdressing tool in order to clip, cut and comb the foliage on your client's heads. You'll get a star rating for each cut and if your clients like you they'll send you postcards and souvenirs from their holidays.

The Revenge Of Shinobi (800 Points) was originally released in 1989 for Mega Drive. A sequel to the arcade game Shinobi, it has you playing as Joe Musashi, a ninja out to avenge his teacher's death and destroy the evil Shadow Master and his criminal empire. You'll travel from the bamboo forests of Japan to the streets of New York City as you fight off enemies by swinging your katana, throwing shurikens and performing special Ninjutsu moves.

Finally there's City Transport Map Volumes 1 & 2 - 2009 (500 Points). It's not a game but it could prove useful if you're lost in a major European city. Volumes 1 & 2 features maps of Paris, Rome, Dublin, Madrid and Lisbon, London, Amsterdam, Prague, Moscow and Berlin. Both volumes include routes for trains, subways, trams and airport shuttles (depending on the city). You can scroll around the maps easily with the stylus, and search by line or station name.

You can drop markers onto favourite places or attach a handwritten note to an interesting location. Or you could take a photo with the DSi Camera and pin it anywhere on the map. Finally there's a route quiz so you can test your city transport knowledge.

That's all for this week. Let us know what your think of this selection.

It looks like an okay update for wiiware and virtual console but if they're are going to give us 2 applications on dsiware couldn't they have given us at least one game as well.

Nice idea with the maps, but it would be better if they had versions for each specific country instead, since I'm sure many UK users would prefer maps of Birmingham and Leeds rather than Prague and Amsterdam.
Otherwise, Bonsai Barber looks good, although only having one WiiWare and VC title is still kinda bad and really needs improving in future. When can we expect LIT, already?
And when are we getting Mighty Flip Champs, Pop Plus Solo and Mario vs Donkey Kong on DSiWare? UGH!
