New Nintendo Downloads!

Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Pilotwings and more...
Earlier this week Nintendo announced that Mario Vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again and Pilotwings will be downloadable from Friday but they're not the only games available tomorrow.

You may already know that Pop + Solo will be available through DSiWare but you'll also be able to download the WiiWare games Arkanoid Plus and Bit. Trip. Core.

Mario Vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again (800 DSi Points) is perhaps the most hotly anticipated DSi game of the year. Once again Pauline is in peril and it's up to you and the tiny Mini Marios to rescue her from Donkey Kong's clutches. You use the stylus to manipulate objects in each trap-laden level, and lead the fragile toys safely to the exit. Once you clear all eight levels on a floor, you'll get a chance to pummel Donkey Kong with your Mini Mario-launching cannon.

The game also features the Construction Zone, which allows you to create your own original levels and share or download levels via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or local wireless.

Pilotwings (800 Points) is this week's other huge download. Originally released for SNES in 1992, this is a fun flight sim that puts you at the controls of a biplane, a hang glider and more as you attempt to pass a series of tests.

Pop+ Solo (500 DSi Points) is a puzzler that has you popping bubbles in an attempt to keep the timer alive. There are 16 waves of bubbles in Adventure, Normal or Advanced modes. You can test yourself against the clock in a one, two or five minute run and take on the new Bonus Round mode where each bonus round can be played in three, five or ten rounds of increasing difficulty. Or just chill out in the relaxing Chill mode with no score or time pressures to worry about.

Then there's Arkanoid Plus! (800 Points), an updated version of the original arcade blockbuster from Square Enix. Players must destroy coloured blocks at the top of the screen by guiding an Energy Ball around the screen using a spaceship called VAUS.

Apparently the game's new modes and settings will radically alter the gameplay experience. Arcade Mode consists of 61 Rounds divided into left and right versions with two types of boss character appearing in the last Round; Vs Mode lets players face off against a friend or the CPU; and the frantic Time Mode challenges players to clear Rounds within a strict time limit.

Finally there's Bit.Trip Core (600 Wii Points) from Gaijin Games. It's a rhythm action game inspired by games from the 80s. The gameplay is entirely new to the series, leaving the single-axis controls of Bit.Trip Beat behind in favour of the ability to control two axes. You control a cross in the centre of the screen and can direct a beam of light towards bits which will explode when they cross the beam during the beat.

That's all for this week. What games will you download?
