The Professor Layton games have been so successful, many people have wondered if the games will ever be released on Wii. However, as Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino told ONM, it's unlikely to happen in the near future.
In an interview with ONM, Akihiro Hino told us that a Wii version of their hit DS puzzle adventure isn't on the drawing board.
"This trilogy comes to a conclusion with Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, but we will be releasing the first title of the new trilogy, Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny in Japan," said Hino. "The new trilogy will also be based around solving puzzles, but will also include greatly improved bonus modes so I think that players will be able to enjoy the games for even longer. We currently have no plans for a Wii release."
So that's the immediate future of the series sorted, but would you like to see a Professor Layton game being released on Wii?
You can read more from our interview with Akihiro Hino in issue 48 of Official Nintendo Magazine which is on sale now.
not really, the only plus for layton on the wii would be the big screen so people can share puzzles,
i've done the diabolical box now and i let my mum have a go, it's so hard to help if you can hardly see.
though using a wireless mode on the ds would be ideal,
though i am concerned about the option just to update the bonuses in the next trilogy, surely they are bonuses for a reason and they'll still up date the new trilogy with puzzles that really effect the scenes in layton, or something, i don't know,
I think Level 5 should release all 6 DS games before considering a wii version, but when we do have all 6 over here i think a wii version would be a very good idea. Just completed Pandoras box and it lived up to my expectations. For me Layton beats Mario or Zelda anyday!
