Super Mario Kart has landed on the Virtual Console in the US. Yes, the plumber's original racer is one of 13 new downloads available today in the Wii and DS shops.
Super Mario Kart may have been released 17 years ago on SNES but it's still a fan favourite and it made number 13 in our list of the top 100 Nintendo games of all time.
We said: "Boot it up and you'll be shocked at what a distant relation it is to its Wii cousin. It's hard as nails and a touch primitive at times but arguably still the definitive Mario Kart multiplayer experience, especially in Battle Mode."
It's a big day for downloads in America with Mario Kart being joined on Virtual Console by the NES version of A Boy And His Blob while Harvest Moon: My Little Shop and Bit.Trip Void are released on WiiWare.
