Miyamoto Explains the Mystery Of The Floating Block!

Find out how the Mushroom Kingdom blocks float!
Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto has attempted to clear up the mystery of the Mushroom Kingdom's floating blocks in the latest 'Iwata Asks' feature.

Miyamoto admitted that there are some things that are unnatural in the Mushroom Kingdom, one of which is the floating block which appears to hover unsupported in mid-air.

"When I first made that, I thought it was totally outrageous," said Miyamoto. "Even when I was working on Donkey Kong, I'd design things properly. I'd make sure that if there was a floor here, then there'd be a pillar somewhere to support it. But when it came to Super Mario Bros., we'd have a single block floating in mid-air: "Just what is this supposed to be hanging from?"

When Nintendo President Satoru Iwata asked why it doesn't fall, Miyamoto replied "Well, it's actually connected round the back..."

So what, it's connected to the sky?! We're still confused Mr Miyamoto. But we don't care!
