If you've ever fancied feeling what it's like to be Sonic as he does his loop-the-loop shenanigans, this could be the closest you'll get.
Alton Towers has announced that a Sonic-themed ride called Sonic Spinball will be open to the public from 13 February.
In truth, the Sonic Spinball ride is just the Spinball Whizzer ride with a new lick of paint and some Sonic music piped through it, but it's still a great ride nonetheless and the addition of Sonic will only make it more awesome.
Perhaps more exciting is the addition of a special Sonic-themed room to the Alton Towers Hotel. Anyone lucky enough to book a night in the Sonic room will be able to play all the latest Sonic games (shame it's not all the earliest Sonic games, but it still beats a Travelodge).

To celebrate this announcement, Sega has provided us with a photo of a man in a Sonic costume giving the ride the aforementioned "lick of paint", as well as one of the same costumed man standing behind the desk at the Alton Towers hotel and answering the phones.
These are only posed press photos, please do not be under the impression that Sonic will be working the reception desk at Alton Towers Hotel for the foreseeable future. We have it on good authority that Sonic is not listed on Alton Towers' staff payroll.
While this is a shame because he'd be able to nip into your room, clean it and change your sheets before you've even realised he's been in there and seen you in your undies, he's got more important things to do like beating Eggman and stuff. Hence his need to get a man in a suit to pose for him instead of actually doing it himself.
Anyway, we're going off the point here. The point is if you go to Alton Towers any time after 13 February you'll be able to go on the Sonic Spinball ride, and if you're a lucky beggar you might be able to blag a night at the Sonic room at the Alton Towers Hotel.
