Max & The Magic Marker's main gimmick isn't a new one. It's been done before in games like Drawn To Life and Yoshi Touch & Go. That doesn't mean it's not utterly charming to play though.
Max receives a special pen in the mail. He uses this magic pen to draw a picture of a monster but the beast then comes alive in his book and starts wreaking havoc. Max uses the pen to draw himself into the book to save the day.
Using the Nunchuk's analogue stick to run and the Z button to jump is awkward at first but you'll get the hang of it. The aim is to make Max collect orange ink balls which fill up the ink level in his pen, which you control using the Wii Remote's pointer. Using the pen, you can draw on the screen by holding the A button, then suck the ink back into your pen with the B button. Whatever you draw then has real physics applied to it, so if you stand Max on a seesaw and draw a rock high above the other end, it'll drop and fling him skywards.

There are plenty of clever puzzles in Max & The Magic Marker and the presence of hidden collectibles and unlockables gives the game plenty of replay value. This is a lovely game which we thoroughly recommend.
