Nintendo: We don't enjoy making mature content

Reggie explains why they leave it to third parties...
Nintendo's US boss Reggie Fils-Aime has admitted that Nintendo developers don't enjoy making mature games.

Earlier in the week, Fils-Aime said that Nintendo need third parties because they don't make games like Bioshock. Now, he has explained the reasons why. According to Fils-Aime it's because they choose not to.

"It's a priority for us bringing a range of entertainment," Fils-Aime told MTV. "It's a priority for us to have a range of third party licensees see success on the platform. It's a priority for us to make sure that every consumer has content that they're going to enjoy.

"Now, the challenge for us is that we, ourselves, Nintendo, don't create that type of content. We're not experts at it. Our developers don't particularly enjoy making that content. They probably could make stellar content, if they chose to. We choose to do something else. So it really is up to the third party developer to create that great content and bring it to life on the platform."

To be fair to Nintendo, with the likes of MadWorld, Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space: Extraction, it's not as if Wii is lacking in mature content. The question is would you like Nintendo to make mature content or would you rather they concentrated their efforts on Mario and Zelda?
