First Dead Rising Wii Screens

Chop Till You Drop uses the Resident Evil 4 Engine
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will be coming to Wii this winter and it will use the same engine as Resident Evil 4 Wii.

The zombie game was originally released on Xbox in September 2006 but, according to Capco, the Wii version wil provide a more intuitive and interactive experience as players use the Remote to aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks. It also has an improved save function for more seamless gameplay.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, a freelance journalist looking for the scoop of a lifetime. In pursuit of a goood lead, he journeys to the small suburban town of Willamette only to find that it has become overrun by zombies.

Frank then escapes to the local shopping mall but he's not safe from the zombies for long. What follows is a struggle to survive the endless stream of enemies. Playing as Frank, you'll have use the goods of the the shopping centre's stores to your advantage. You can fight off the zombies with makeshift weapons such as golf clubs, lawnmowers and frying pans. Also, if you're running low on health you can restore energy by grabbing something to eat in a restaurant or cafe.

The game is split into a series of individual cases, all of which Frank must complete in order to gain vital information that will allow him to piece together the truth behind the horrendous epidemic. In addition to the cases, you'll also have to decide the rescue priority of the residents of Wilamette who also sought sanctuary in the mall.

If you're not skilled enough some residents might not survive as each rescue needs to be undertaken in a set time period, meaning you'll need to choose to save a fellow human and put off the completion of a case.

You can read a Dead Rising preview in Issue 33 of Official Nintendo Magazine which is in the shops from 1 August.
