Today's my first day back in the office after my summer holiday in Croatia. Very nice it was too - there's nothing quite like baking on a rock under the Mediterranean sun for eight days straight.
However, I badly miscalculated my holiday entertainment quota. I foolishly packed one book, which I finished within 36 hours of landing ('The Road' by Cormac McCarthy - highly recommended!). That left me with just the DS for company as my girlfriend looked on smugly from behind her copy of the monstrously epic 1,500 page samurai colossus 'Shogun' - which she'll probably still be reading when she's 70.

Not to worry, the DS was fine company. I booted up some Elite Beat Agents, Soul Bubbles, and then decided to revisit the fiendish final battle from Advance Wars: Dual Strike, which I'm still yet to beat. Hours later I was finally on the verge of glorious victory... and then the battery ran out. I hadn't saved it and I hadn't packed my charger. Aaagghhh! I duly lobbed my DS into the Med in frustration and stormed off in search of an ice cream. Well, okay, I didn't but I sure felt like it.
With another four days of holiday looming, I dug around at the bottom of my tardis-like shoulder bag and dug out my old Game Boy which had been rotting away in there for years. Somehow, a copy of Wario Land 3 had found its way in there too. I shoved it in the slot, thinking it would be good preparation for the forthcoming Wii title.
There hasn't been too much chat about The Shake Dimension around these parts - it seems to have got lost in all the E3 hoo-ha. Are people looking forward to it? Have you got fond memories of the Game Boy and GBA games?
I hadn't played Wario Land 3 for the best part of eight years and as it turns out I'd viewed it through rose-tinted glasses. Truth be told, I found it to be a pretty clunky, uninspired platformer. I should have packed the brilliant Wario Land 4 instead to play on my Game Boy. Still, the fifth game in the series should offer more excitement with its modern twist on old school platforming. It looks lovely too.
